Keeping God off Money

My wife recently bought a stamper that reads "Keep church and state separate! Keep god off money!" And ever since the stamper came in the mail, she has been stamping all of our cash religiously in red ink, experimenting to find just the right spots on each denomination of currency to apply the stamp for maximum visibility. I used to think the whole hubbub about God's being on money was sort of dumb. Who cares, I figured. The little sermon on all of our money wasn't hurting me one bit, didn't make a bit of difference in the world to me.
But the more I think about it, the more it is an issue. Christians would object strenuously if our money were printed with the motto "In Satan, ruler over the dominion of evil, we trust." Animal rights activists would hemorrhage if our money were emblazoned with the phrase "Fur is warm and makes animals happy." Pro-lifers would demonstrate and kill doctors if our money suggested that dead babies made good science. So why should I stand by silently while my supposed secular government allows each of my cash transactions to serve as an advertisement for a god I don't believe in?
The Web site godoffmoney.com used to sell rubber stamps of the sort my wife purchased, but can no longer do so. You can buy a stamp pretty cheaply from any local office store or online at stampman.com (they screwed up our order the first time but eventually sent us the right stamps). The stamps are not expensive. I doubt the Christian motto will be removed from our money any time soon, but the more bills that are out there displaying red stamps of protest, the sooner any such removal will take place. Get your stamp today.
